Our team is complemented by the varying levels of experience and qualifications, Level 8 Honours Degree to QQI level 6 Childcare and education. All managers and supervisors hold full FAR Certificates, Manual Handling, and fire safety training. We continually encourage, support, and facilitate further training to ensure we provide the best all round care and education to all our children and the support our families.

Mandy Kelly

Manager

Mandy has been an integral part of our Arklow branch since 2006, and this year we are delighted to celebrate 20 years of Mandy being part of the Kangakare family.

With an impressive 30-year career spanning managerial, childcare and education roles, Mandy brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and, most importantly, a genuine passion for children, families and early education. Her BA (Hons) Degree in Early Childcare and Education, together with her years of hands-on experience, has helped shape the high-quality childcare service we are so proud to provide.

Mandy’s experience extends beyond her role within Kangakare. Over the years, she has also works as a Lecturer, delivering QQI Level 5 and Level 6 programmes in Early Learning and Care, as well as Special Needs Assisting at Levels 5 and 6. This experience has gives Mandy a strong understanding of professional education, training and the challenges and achievements that come with developing a career in early years.

At Kangakare, we strongly believe in professional development and supporting our Educators to continue learning, developing and progressing throughout their careers. Mandy’s lecturing experience brings an additional level of support to our teams, particularly for Educators undertaking further studies. Her knowledge and understanding of the courses, assignments and professional journey provide our staff with an experienced and familiar person within their workplace who can encourage, guide and support them along the way.

As a leader, Mandy is passionate about helping every Educator understand just how important and influential their role is in a child’s life. She reminds her team that they are not simply caring for children each day — they are helping to shape the future.

Our Educators are helping children to develop confidence, curiosity, resilience, independence and a sense of purpose, while giving them the foundations to follow their own adventurous and purposeful path as they grow into young adults.

Mandy believes that Educators have the privilege of being part of these formative years and that this responsibility should never be underestimated. Through her leadership, she encourages her team to see the bigger picture — understanding that the small things they do every day can have a lasting impact on a child’s life.

For Mandy, her role is also deeply personal. As a mother of two young adults who themselves grew, learned and developed through the care of Kangakare, she has experienced our service not only as a Manager and Educator, but also as a parent. She understands the emotions that come with parenting — the excitement and joy, but also the fears, worries and concerns that every parent can experience when placing their greatest trust in others to care for their children.

That perspective is at the heart of Mandy’s vision for Kangakare. She wants every child who walks through our doors to feel safe, valued, supported and encouraged to learn and grow. She also wants every parent to feel that they are part of something bigger — a large Kangakare family and support network where there are always people looking out for their child’s best interests, celebrating their achievements and supporting them through every stage of their development.

Anita Crummy

Anita’s dedication, commitment, and hard work have been pivotal throughout her career at KangaKare. Her exceptional performance and unwavering passion for delivering high-quality childcare led to her promotion to Assistant Manager in 2015. Liz holds impressive qualifications that include a QQI Level 6 in Childcare and a QQI Level 6 in Leadership for Inclusion in Early Years. With 13 years of experience in the childcare sector, Liz has cultivated a deep understanding of the developmental needs of children. His remarkable dedication, passion, and natural rapport with children quickly became evident, enabling him to transition from student to Assistant Educator and, through continued hard work and professionalism, to progress into his current role as Lead Educator.

He completed two years of study in Early Childhood Education at Carlow SETU, gaining strong foundational knowledge in child development and early learning. Recently, Dylan chose to defer his course to prioritise hands-on experience, a decision that reflects his commitment to deepening his practical understanding of the childcare sector and continuously developing his skills.

Dylan currently holds a Level 6 qualification in childcare, marking an important milestone in his professional journey. While continuing to lead his class at KangaKare, Dylan will also be returning to college to complete the final years of his BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education and Care. We are thrilled to welcome Stacey Myler back to Kangakare! Stacey previously worked with us from 2022 to 2023, during which time she made a wonderful impact on our team and the children in our care. After leaving for a new venture, Stacey has now returned to Kangakare a year later, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them back.

Stacey holds a QQI Level 5 certification in Childcare and serves as an Assistant Educator within our service. Her focus is on working with children aged 1 to 2.5 years, providing a nurturing and enriching environment to support their development.

Melinda Szabo

Lead Educator

Originally from Hungary, Melinda is a highly experienced and passionate educator with a degree in Primary Education. Her extensive knowledge and experience in supporting children’s learning and development make her a wonderful addition to the KangaKare team.

Melinda is known for her warm, kind, and nurturing nature. She creates a welcoming environment where children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to grow in confidence. Her empathetic approach, combined with her professional experience, allows her to build strong and positive relationships with both children and families.

As a mother of two boys who attend KangaKare, Melinda also has a unique understanding of the needs and experiences of our families. Her perspective as both a parent and an educator brings a valuable sense of understanding, care, and connection to our community.

Melinda brings her many skills and experiences to her role at KangaKare, taking on the additional role of Afterschool Lead Educator. We are delighted to have her bring her knowledge, creativity, and enthusiasm to our Afterschool group. Michelle Hatton

Katie joined our Afterschool team at Kangakare in May 2026. A few things about Katie is that she is passionate about creating a fun, engaging and supportive environment where children can feel valued and included. Katie is known for her warm and gentle nature where she can create a safe and comfortable environment for our children.

As a proud mother a young daughter herself, she understands the importance of each child’s needs as well as the emotions and challenges that they may face in early years settings. She enjoys building positive relationships with each child and their families, encouraging their confidence, independence, and creativity through engaging activities.

Katie has a strong background working with people from all walks of life. She holds extensive training in First Aid, Fire safety and Water safety.

Katie has also completed a QQI Level 5 Special Needs Assisting (SNA) qualification and has also completed the first year of a Level 8 Bachelor (Honours) degree in Early Childhood Education and Care at Carlow IT.

Carolina holds an Early Years Educator degree from Spain and has over five years of experience working in early years education in Dublin. Building strong relationships with children and their families is one of the most important aspects of Carolina’s role. Her warm, encouraging nature helps children feel confident to express themselves, explore their talents, and discover what they enjoy.

This year, Leah has also achieved an important milestone in her own professional development, successfully compled QQI Level 5  Early Childhood Care and Education and now progressing to Level 6. We are delighted that, alongside continuing her studies and developing her skills, Leah remains committed to her role and to the children and families of KangaKare.

Jodie  is a third-year Early Childhood Education student at Maynooth University, working toward her Level 8 qualification. She completed a year-long placement in her first year, earning her LOE1 qualification, which provided practical experience in early childhood settings. Over the past two years, Jodie has developed extensive experience supporting children’s learning and development and joined Kangakare in August 2025.

Jodie is known for her compassion, understanding, and genuine care for children, as well as her energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to continual learning and professional development. She creates nurturing and engaging environments that promote children’s growth, curiosity, and well-being.

Alanna Cummins

Alanna is a highly qualified childcare professional, holding Levels 5 and 6 in Childcare, a Montessori Diploma, and a Level 8 Honours Degree in Early Years Education. She has worked in a variety of settings, including Montessori environments, special needs groups, and with children across a wide range of ages.

Alanna is passionate about supporting children as they learn and grow, with a particular love for creative, fun, and play-based learning experiences. She has experience working within ECCE programmes, after-school groups, preschool classes, and with younger age groups.

After moving to Arklow, Alanna was delighted to join the Kangakare team. She is really enjoying getting to know the younger children and being part of such a supportive and welcoming environment.
